As they traveled along, Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.

As they continued their journey, he came to a certain village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him to her house.

39

She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to His message.

She had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Master’s feet, and listened to what he was saying.

But Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!”

But Martha was worried with all she had to do for them, and she came up and said, “Master, does it make no difference to you that my sister has left me to do all the work alone? Tell her to help me.”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you are worried and upset about many things.

The Master answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and anxious about many things,

But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.”

but our wants are few, indeed there is only one thing we need. For Mary has chosen the right thing, and it must not be taken away from her.”
